Perhaps you've seen cars on the road with dark windows, and they've piqued your interest. Or maybe you know someone who has had their windows tinted, and they can't stop telling you that you should do the same.
In either scenario, you're left to wonder... why?
The truth is, there's a lot to know about auto window tinting. You have plenty of options when it comes to the color and placement of your tints. And, better yet, there are so many benefits of making this upgrade to your car.
So, here's everything you need to know about Boca Raton window tinting — and beyond.
There are many kinds of window tinting available to you. But at Boca Tint & Auto, we focus on four shades to suit Florida's tinting laws — more on those later.
We use LLumar auto window tints, which are top-of-the-line, and provide ample benefits to you as a driver and investor in your vehicle. Again, we'll cover the benefits of auto window tinting later, too.
But when you come to us for your window tints, you can choose between a range of colors of LLumar films for your windows. They include:
Yes, you read that right. A clear window tint can provide you with the protective benefits that you'll read about below, including UV protection. Of course, a clear tint won't provide as much privacy as the others.
If you're unsure which color would look best on your car, click here. You can use our film viewer to see your car's make and model with tints in various hues.
Once you decide on the hue of your tint, you'll choose the performance level of your auto window tinting treatment. This only applies to tints in the dark, medium, or light hues — clear comes in a one-size-fits-all film.
As for the others, you will decide between:
Of course, every driver will have a different look in mind for their car, truck, or SUV. Which type of tinting would suit your vehicle best? Only you can decide that.
Florida window tinting laws stipulate which windows can be tinted and the degree of darkness with which you can cover your panes.
For starters, you can only have window tint applied to the top five inches of your windshield. This makes sense if you think about it – you need a clear windshield for the safest possible driving on the road.
The front side windows can be completely tinted, but the tint can block no more than 28 percent of light from entering your vehicle. The same goes for the side rear windows, although they have to be more see-through: 15 percent of light has to pass through. As for your rear window, it can only be covered by a 15 percent tint, as well.
These laws apply to passenger vehicles only. If you drive a multi-purpose vehicle, you aren't allowed as much tint on your windows. It's best to ask a professional for help with your tinting, as they'll know the latest laws and how they apply to your car, truck or SUV.
In Boca Raton, having your windows tinted is a no-brainer. You'll know that our city gets plenty of sun and heat. Having window tints can help keep your car cool as it sits in parking lots or in traffic, thus making your journeys much more comfortable.
On top of that, window tints can block up to 99 percent of harmful UV rays from flooding into your vehicle. At their least destructive, UV rays can cause sunburn. But more exposure can lead to liver spots, eye damage, a weakened immune system, skin cancer, and more.
You probably already knew this, and you may take precautions against UV rays when you hit the Boca Raton beaches. But another way to keep yourself safe is to tint your car windows.
Once you're on the road, window tinting can help you be a safer driver. Your darkened windows will reflect less glare, making it easier to see. And, without that much light in your face, your eyes will be protected from damage, too.
Finally, having window tints can protect the interior of your vehicle. Too much sunlight flooding in can cause cracking and damage to your car's upholstery. But tints will keep sunlight out and protect the integrity of your car's interior for years to come.
